Chung Mei Road Sitting-out Area
‘Hidden Valley’ is the connotation of the Chung Mei Road Sitting-out Area. It is located north of Cheung Hong Estate in a valley formed by the 25-metre drop between Chung Mei Road and Fung Shue Wo Road, as well as the retaining slopes on the east and west sides. From the entrance of Chung Mei Road, passers-by need to tread nearly 100 steps to enter the sitting-out area. Further down the site, people can pass through the sitting-out area and reach Tai Wong Ha Resite Village. The sitting-out area is divided into different functional spaces according to the dynamic terrain: an observation deck on a raised earth slope, a fitness area between small mounds and a seating area hidden by the flood discharge channel. These elements reflect an experience of duality—enclosure and openness. Rich vegetation covers the entire sitting-out area like a forest, whereas the flood discharge channel releases water vapour to humidify the site, providing residents and villagers a cool breathing space.
